The UPiS is an Intelligent Uninterruptible Power Supply designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi. The UPiS
Advanced is equipped with a 2600mAh LiPO battery (included) meaning it can keep your Pi alive for over 5 hours if the power fails! There is no need for any additional cabling or Power Supply, as the UPiS is powered by the same Power Supply of your original Raspberry Pi; you simply insert the UPiS on the top of the P1 connector of your Raspberry Pi and plug your power supply into the UPiS module! The UPiS Module has a built-in smart battery charger, which controls and charges the integrated battery automatically whenever your RPi is cable-powered. The UPiS Advanced includes a host of other features including on-board Real Time Clock (RTC), NO Relar Sensor, Protected 1-Wire Interface, Micro USB to RPi RS232 Interface (Virtual Com Port) and 12V RS232 Interface.
A full list of features for the basic and advanced versions can be found here.
The UPiS has an embedded measurement system that continuously checks the powering voltage and current consumption, and when the cable power is absent or insufficient, it automatically switches to the battery source. Then it keeps checking the input voltage on all power sources, and when cable power gets available again, it switches to it automatically, turning the battery source off and recharging it for when the power fails again. The UPiS uses exactly the same micro USB Power Supply that you are using to supply your Raspberry Pi, however it has also an Extended External Voltage input for other non-standard powering sources.
The UPiS is addressed to all users requiring a power back-up and/or sensing features for applications running on the Raspberry Pi. All applications running on the Raspberry Pi can take advantage of the uninterruptible power supply feature of the UPiS (ranging from Raspberry Pi based fan less servers to solar-powered applications), but in addition the UPiS provides a wealth of sensors and features, all cumulated in a single all-in-one unit, that can enable writing many innovative applications.
